It is my favorite time of the year! Christmas truly is magical and I love it as much as I did as a child. My absolute favorite thing to do is find gifts for family and friends. Seeing their reaction when they open their gift is my something I look forward to. This is why I love doing the Christmas Eve Box for my kids. It has become such a wonderful tradition that we all look forward to year after year. I wanted to share with you what I chose to put in their box this year!
If you haven’t started this tradition yet I recommend you start now. It is never too late to start. So many memories are cherished year after year with this fun box. I really put some time and thought into this gift which is why I enjoy it so much.
As I have continued this tradition over the years, it has become harder and harder each year to choose just one book. This year I feel very happy with my choice because it is a book that I enjoyed reading as a child. I remember listening to this book countless times in elementary school and absolutely loved it! It is the story “Texas Night Before Christmas” by James Rice.
This story is about a family who lives in Texas and is experiencing a blizzard during the winter. Santa comes on Christmas night with his sleigh pulled by longhorns instead of reindeers. The Texas and western theme throughout this story brings us back to remember our Texas roots during Christmas time. Its great to see the kids make connections with the setting in the story with their own personal experiences.
What is Inside the Box:
To keep the western/cowboy theme going, I paired an adorable pair of plaid pajamas. Each of the kids have a matching pair of red and black plaid pjs purchased from target. I really try to have the pjs match the theme or genre of the book, but sometimes that can create some difficulty. I feel that this year I was successful on staying within budget while maintaining the theme.
This year, I wanted to include something other than the pjs and book in the box. I am not one to include a movie. I know that some people include snacks and a movie in their box, but we already eat popcorn, watch movies, drink hot cocoa and eat way to many cookies so there is no need to include those in the box. So, I found these adorable socks that came in a pack of three and a cute plushy stuffed animal for Rhett.
I am super excited to see what their face is like when they open their Christmas Eve Box of 2020. They look forward to this box at this time of the year and they want to see what book is added to their collection. Check out other books in our Christmas book collection from our previous Christmas Eve Boxes here.
Not pictured in the box: Rhett’s plush stuffed cow. I can’t find it in all of the other boxes of Christmas presents in the attic- Ha ha! Tried to find it in the attic for the picture, but still don’t know where I buried it… I will find it when I am wrapping presents probably.
