Day Trip to Waco, Texas- Magnolia Farms and Dr. Pepper Museum
As a fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines, I have always said to my husband that we needed to visit Magnolia Farms in Waco, Texas. We have gone through Waco countless times, but never stopped to visit. Well…we finally embarked on a delightful journey to experience the magic in Waco. Join me as I share in this blog post our adventure exploring Magnolia Farms and the iconic Dr. Pepper Museum in downtown Waco.
Magnolia Farms
The iconic silos are a symbol of Magnolia Farms. We snapped some stunning photos of these towering structures and enjoyed a moment in the nearby green spaces. The kids enjoyed running around and playing corn hole for bit.
Once you arrive there are so many great things to see. The bakery, the Silos, the coffee shop and variety of boutique stores.
The garden area nearby was fun to experience and snap a few pics as well. We spotted many butterflies fluttering throughout the garden filled with beautiful flowers. For those who have a green thumb, the Magnolia Seed + Supply is a haven of inspiration. Lots of pots and gardening tools with a selection of seeds to choose from.
It’s a must to venture into Magnolia Market. Lots of decor to shop through. I have to admit that a lot of the items I saw were very cute but priced very high. Even the items in the marked down area were pricey (and some pieces were broken and still charged a high dollar). I saw lots of inspiration with decor and went home with some great ideas. However, I couldn’t get myself to buy something that could have been purchased for a cheaper price at Hobby Lobby or Target.
The Christmas ornaments were adorable if you’re looking for a unique gift to give someone. They were each priced about $12+ so buying a handful to fill up a tree would get expensive pretty quick.
Press Coffee Shop is a cute place to visit and recharge with a good cup of coffee, tea or refresher. There are lots of seating options inside and out and the adorable shop next door is wonderful to visit.
Sipping Through History at the Dr Pepper Museum
After you have toured Chip and Joanna’s place, walk about two blocks over to the Dr. Pepper Museum. This place has dedicated itself to the popular soda drink that many Texans refer to as a “coke”.
The museum has three stories that feature historical information about the history of Dr. Pepper and other soft drinks. The first floor teaches you the birthplace of the soft drink- how it was first created in the late 1800’s.
As you go up each level you continue to learn about Dr. Pepper and some other soft drink history. Once you visit all three levels you walk next door to get yourself a free Dr. Pepper drink that comes with your admission cost.
The highlight of our visit was the authentic soda fountain at the end of the experience. Here you get to indulge in a float or a fresh bubbly cup of the iconic soft drink. In this area they also have more interactive experiences- such as create your own soda flavor. The kids enjoyed this side of the museum more…one little boy was quite entertained by this cute Dr. Pepper train set.
