Fort Worth Stockyards
Saddle up! We’re headed to the Fort Worth Stockyards and you best be ready for an adventure! You’re gonna need to grab your boots and cowboy hat as you’re taken back to the cowboy days, cattle drives, and the well defined spirit of the wild wild west. In this blog post, I will be your guide through the various experiences that make a visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards an absolute must.
|| Cattle Drives ||
Start your adventure with a bang by checking out the cattle drives. The old west comes to life in front of you twice a day. You will witness real Texas cowhands taking a herd of longhorns down Exchange Avenue everyday at 11:30am and 4pm. This spectacle you surely don’t want to miss!
|| Western Shopping ||
Explore the variety of Western themed shops throughout the area. From boutique clothing to handmade crafts you can find many unique treasures. My absolute favorite store to visit is the General Store & Trading Post located on Exchange Ave. They have the cutest attire, souvenirs, gifts and knick knacks for the whole family!
While shopping you might want to check out the live Old West Gunfight Shows. They hold these showings each Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:45am and 4:15pm at the Stockyards Station. You may recognize a few of the actors from the show Yellowstone. I will warn you it is a bit loud and it you’re not expecting to hear gunshots it will startle you. My kids didn’t like it too much, but we did make sure to snap a shot with the old west cowboys for with my son.
|| Food + Entertainment ||
If you need a good cup of coffee while shopping and you want to skip the liquor and alcohol booth sales, Gold Handle Coffee Co. is a wonderful option. I ordered their iced caramel macchiato and was very pleased! It has a cozy farmhouse vibe in the coffee house too.
After a day of shopping you’ll want to stop at the best honky tonk place in North Texas-Billy Bob’s Texas. Here you can watch live music and take part in some country dancing. You’re bound to have a good time here!
|| Stockyards Rodeo ||
For a true cowboy experience, take time to go to the Stockyards Championship Rodeo. They hold year round rodeo every Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm. Here you’ll get to see bull riding, barrel racing, tie down roping and more. This is a great experience to see some real cowboy or cowgirl skills.
The Fort Worth Stockyards is sure to give you the Texas cowboy experience. So saddle up and explore the authentic Western charm that defines this historical Texan landmark.
