Chocolate Cranberry Bars

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup dried cranberries

Method
 

  1. In a mixer, cream the shortening with sugars. Sugars need to be mixed well with the vegetable shortening.
  2. Next, add eggs and vanilla extract. Mix altogether.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients- flour, baking soda and salt. Whisk these ingredients together.
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to wet ingredients mixing well. You will want to see a dough begin to form.
  5. Add in the mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips and dried cranberries.
  6. Once all of the ingredients have been mixed well. Transfer it to a prepared 9x9 baking pan. Spread it out evenly and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Once cool, cut into bars and enjoy. Can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. Store in a closed container.
