There are lots of fun trends on Instagram and the brown bag snowflakes is one that I wanted to give a try. Now, when I first planned on trying this I thought it was not going to work for me. However, after the first one, I discovered how easy this fun craft was, and if you have older children, they can do it too!

Materials needed:

Luckily, I had all of these materials needed to make the snowflakes before trying.

This craft is SUPER cheap and it takes the basic paper snowflakes with your kids to another level.

How to Make a Paper Bag Snowflake:

For each snowflake, I used about 9-10 paper bags. Other tutorials said 6-7 bags, but the typical grocery store brown paper bag did not stretch all the way around to make a whole snowflake with only 7 bags. So, I have found out that 9-10 bags works the best and if you want it even fuller than that, you could go up to 12 bags.

To start off, you will glue the paper bags together. Place the glue on the flat side down (not on the side with the flap). You will do this to all of the bags, but don’t put glue on the last bag until after you finish making any snowflake cuts.

Next, using a pencil or pen, make shapes on the bag to cut along for your snowflake design. This is the fun experimental part of making any snowflake. The designs you make now will be a surprise until the end.

Cut out the designs using scissors.

After the shape designs have been cut out, open it up. To finalize it, put glue on the last paper bag and circle the snowflake around connecting the two ends together.

What a beautiful snowflake you have created!
