I have struggled with game organization for years. I have searched for so many solutions and either they cost a bunch of money to do or it doesn’t work with the space in our house. However, I have FINALLY found a solution. It cost me less than $20 to do and depending on how many games you have, it may cost you the same or less. It requires very little supplies and works great with your kids to do a quick clean up. You must try the best organization hack for game boards.

In our house, we have a total of 20 games. Before organizing the them, the games inside of their boxes took up a lot of space. The look of boxes stacked up on top of each other looked sloppy and became an eyesore. My idea started when I began to think of how I could organize the games outside of their box. I wondered which games I could take out of the box and which ones had to stay in their box for easy storage. I bought some heavy duty containers and Ziploc bags and began to test it out.

These heavy duty containers are great to use because they last a long time and have the ability to hold all of the games. These totes held up to the challenge this summer and currently still are. These weaved baskets are all around my house to hold things because they can store so much!

To hold the game pieces, I also purchased 2.5 Gallon Ziploc bags . I wanted bags that could fit all of the game pieces plus the game board. Most of the games that I placed in the bags could fold up. So, fitting them inside the bag plus all of the game pieces created no problem. I emptied out all of the games from their boxes and placed them in their own Ziploc bag. Each game has the board folded up and all of the pieces of the game inside the same Ziploc bag. This way, when someone wants to play the game they have all of the game components in the same bag.

Some of the games could not fit in the bags or containers. For example, the game Operation stores better in its box because the board can’t fold up, but the game Monopoly can easily fold up and stored using my method.

After placing the games inside of the bags, I placed each bag in the containers. Each container could hold 7-8 games. Also, each bag could stand up right in the container for easy access to pull out and clean up. This made it super easy for my children to pull the games out and put them back in. Plus, clean up became easy since they could toss everything in the bag.
